Stop your hair from Breaking.

Hello beauties, How's your week starting out, its Monday and I know most peeps do not like Mondays, but I have really come to love it, cos it the beginning of a working week, and you know, as you work, you earn money *lol* so, that's my logic. Anyways, I shall be sharing with you something interesting that you might was to adopt if you want your hair to stay healthy. A lot of girls suffer from hair breakage, and its not just funny cos your spend so much money on your hair and give all the "care" you think it requires but it ends up breaking and you are left heart broken.

Our hair just like our stomach need so much care, that is why I have chosen to share these tips on how to stop your hair from breaking.

Here goes...Enjoy

1. Trim Your Ends

Yes I know, you are trying to let your hair grow, and getting a trim sounds counterproductive. However, getting regular trims will help get rid of dry, damaged and split ends which can work their way up the shaft of your hair and causing even more damage.
Make sure to tell your stylist that you are trying to grow your hair out and you do not want more than a 1/2 inch removed. You may want to ask your stylist how often you should trim your hair, as well, given that many external factors will affect how you need a salon trip.

2. Ease Up on Heat

High heat = damage = breakage. Frequent heat = damage = breakage. See a pattern here? While curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers make our lives easier, allowing us to wear just about any style we can think up, these tools can also cause irrevocable damage when used too often or incorrectly. Constantly "bumping" your ends with an iron will weaken, thin and break them over time. Using heat that's way too hot even once can break your hair.
Use other methods of styling, such as wet setting on magnetic rollers or Curlformers. Wet wrap the hair for a sleek look, or wet set with braids and twists for cool waves. Save the heat tools for special occasions, and definitely no more than once a week.

3. Use Gentle Cleansers

Harsh shampoos can leave the hair dry and brittle and susceptible to breakage. Find a cleanser that doesn’t disrupt the moisture balance of your strands.

4. Don't Brush Hair While Wet

Just say "no" to brushing your hair when it's soaking wet. Black hair is already fragile -- when wet, it's in its weakest state. It's fine to comb through your hair while wet; in fact, the ideal state to comb is when it's saturated with conditioner. But brushing black hair stretches it sometimes to the point-of-no-return. A loud "snap" is the last thing you want to hear while styling your hair.
What about women who want to straighten their hair before flat ironing? Aren't round brushes made for this? Brushes are okay once your hair is at least halfway dry, but dryer is better. Instead of a round bristle brush, use a paddle brush to smooth hair, but again, wait until your hair is at least 50% dry before tackling with a brush and blow dryer.

5. Moisture & Conditioning

Moisture is what keeps hair strands supple and pliable. Moisturize your hair with a leave-in conditioner and seal with a butter or heavy oil. How often you do this depends on how well your hair retains moisture. Some women need to moisturize daily, while others moisture every 3 to 5 days. Also, some naturals find that deep conditioning helps to keep their hair strengthened and moisturized.

6. Stop Coloring Your Hair
Though it is possible to have colored hair that is also moisturized and strong, it’s a definite challenge and, for some naturals, it just won’t be possible. If you do want color, have it done by a professional, and do frequent deep conditioning treatments.

7. Cover Your Hair at Night

The combination of cotton pillowcases and dry night air can suck moisture from your strands. Keep your hair wrapped with a hairnet. If your hair can deal with nightly manipulation, consider twisting or braiding it up at night.

8. Use the Proper Brush or Comb

Make sure to use the proper comb or brush for your hair. Use a wide toothed comb or pick to comb your hair after washing it. Be careful not to comb your hair when it is completely wet, as wet hair tends to be more fragile.

9. Apply some Protein

Depending on the level of your breakage, a weekly protein strengthening treatment may be perfect, or you may need emergency measures if your hair is breaking at an alarming rate. Usually, chemical damage is behind real breakage emergencies. It's important not to overdo the protein because too much can be drying. Alternate mild protein treatments with deep conditioners to keep your hair healthy and prevent breakage down the line

10. Proper Nutrition

The best hair breakage treatment can sometimes just be good nutrition. As with the rest of your body, proper nutrition and vitamins will reflect the health of your hair. If you eat a healthy diet you will grow stronger and healthier inside and out. A diet high in fruits, vegetables, protein and plenty of fluids may help with attaining the luscious locks that you desire.
