Show Review: Kanye West x Adidas Originals Fall 2015

 

Kanye West held his third runway show today in New York, this time in collaboration with athletic wear brand Adidas. His projection for Fall 2015 included hosiery like leggings and bodysuits, barely there bras, and almost sheer separates that skewed more underwear than ready to wear.
If the see through body stockings and pantyhose could be dismissed as foundational styling pieces, then we’re able to focus on a few standouts, particularly the collection’s outerwear. Slick bomber jackets and shearling lined coats were nods to Kimye’s day to day gear. Haven’t we seen one or both in iterations of the below? More pics after the cut...











For the fellas, West used a basic color palette of black and gray, and also incorporated camouflage on hoodies, parkas, and button front jackets.






Interest bubbled to the fore with padded tanks fashioned after bullet proof vests, tie waisted dresses, and hole ridden sweaters, reminiscent of Balmain ca. 2010.




With the goal of, “crack[ing] the pavement and mak[ing] new ground,” and making people think awesome is possible (his words, according to @Four_Pins), ‘Ye offered out of the box styling and an undeniably eye catching showing.



While I’d pass on the sheer pantyhose worn under underwear, I think there are quite a few redeeming pieces in this collection. Though simple, I’d certainly sidle up to the olive green sweater dress (paired with thigh highs as shown), the abbreviated black shearling jacket (as modeled by Kylie Jenner), and a few canvas coats.



Yes, most of the items are basic sweats and some hmmm worthy hose, but I believe there are some definite ‘hits’ in the bunch, and kinda can’t wait to see how the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, Rihanna, and Cassie make these looks rock in real life
