CWP Beauty: Shea Butter, my skin saver!

Top of the day my dearests, I just want to appreciate you for always sticking around even when there is no post up and for always dropping a comment when there's a new post, you really do not know how all these encourage me to do more especially when the spirit gets weak.....Thank you so plenty.

A glowing skin means proper care and to some people, proper care means expensive products, more often than not, these products which are filled with chemical might not really give you the glow you desire in your skin. You will be surprised to know that the glow you are looking for in highly expensive soap, cream and oil can be found in the free natural 'products' God has given us.

Growing up I had a really bad skin, sorry, no skin is bad, but I had a skin that rubbed me of my self esteem. I have a dry skin which is hereditary but the "bad" part is that I had a skin condition that leaves little scars all over my legs and arms, I tried every soap and cream but nothing worked until a few years back, a woman (God bless her) asked me to try shea butter and I when like "What! that stuff? I don't even like the smell" and asked me one question that left me speechless.....
"Do you like your skin this way?". That's how I started using shea butter "Ori" (Yoruba) "Okuma" (Igbo) How do you call it in your language?

Shea butter is one of the most versatile natural beauty ingredients and I use it daily. In fact, shea butter has been the only cream I apply on my skin and now I can proudly wear clothes that show my legs and arms, I use it on my natural hair too.

Lets me talk about some of the benefits of shea butter on our skin:

1. Healing Qualities:

Shea butter is known for its healing properties, which can be attributed to the presence of several fatty acids and plant sterols such as oleic, palmitic, stearic and linolenic acids. These oil-soluble components do not undergo saponification or convert into soap on coming in contact with alkali. Shea butter is more non-saponifiable than other nut oils and fats, thus imparting it a great healing potential for the skin. Raw unrefined shea butter is effective for curing skin rashes, skin peeling after tanning, scars, stretch marks, frost bites, burns, athletes foot, insect bites and stings, arthritis and muscle fatigue.

2. Moisturizing

The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils.

3. Reduces Inflammation

A 2010 study found that due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter was anti-inflammatory. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, was found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne.

5. Repairing Agent:

Shea butter has amazing healing properties. It is often used as a base in medicinal ointments due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used since ages for the treatment of scars, eczema, blemishes, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretch marks, dark spots and in reducing the irritation caused by psoriasis. Due to its high content of vitamin A, it is effective in promoting healing and disinfection; and soothes skin allergies like poison ivy and insect bites. Vitamin F acts as a rejuvenator for soothing and healing rough and chapped skin.

6. Baby Care:

Shea butter is an excellent natural moisturizer which is devoid of chemicals. Thus, it is ideal for baby care as besides being gentle and soft on skin, it is specially adapted for delicate and sensitive skin of babies. It can be for after bath application on skin and as also for healing eczema or diaper rash on the skin of babies.

7. Lip Care:

Shea butter is easily absorbable and provides extra moisture and nutrients that are needed during cold season and dry weather. Thus, it acts as a perfect lip balm to protect your lips from cold and dry weather and is effective for treating dry and chapped lips.

8. Restores Skin Elasticity:

Non-saponifiable matter and vitamin F in this butter are vital ingredients for maintaining skin-elasticity. Thus, application of shea butter restores the elasticity of the skin and helps maintain an even skin-tone besides hydrating, softening and beautifying it.

I am a living witness of the wonders of almighty shea butter and I am happy I was introduced to it, you too can try it.

Thanks for reading through, please drop a comment if you have a contribution, suggestion or question, I will be glad to address them.

Stay beautiful dearies.

xoxo
